True, The Looking Glass

When moving as particles,
Light eases into the corners
Of any room. When it’s out
In a succession of waves,
It works like last week:
It leaves three marks on
A tired back wall.
In seven days, I discovered
Quantum mechanics. In
Seven days, I made Hawking
Furious with two instances
Of unscientific envy.
Where one universe held
True, the looking glass
Witnessed my impropriety.
The second universe (You!)
Held the matter I destroyed
In the first. While it saved physics,
It may not have saved me.
