Sunset at Oatka Creek

Sometimes, just as the sun sinks through the horizon, massive insect hatches set off a feeding frenzy in trout that must be seen to be believed.

Unfortunately, last night wasn’t one of those nights, but it was still a great day to experience a “wild” trout stream in action during the most productive time of year. ┬áThere was a stiff breeze last night, which kept the fly fishing interesting, and the trout down I believe.

Oatka Creek Park is also one the heaviest fished places on the stream, so some of the trout hide under rocks until we all go home.
